The Renewal is an invitation into a community centered in prayer. Prayer groups are a nurturing place where we can praise God, learn about Him, and grow in using the gifts of the Holy Spirit. They are a safe, loving, healing place where we can come to God together.
In the beginning of the Book of Acts in the Bible, we find the Blessed Virgin Mary, the Apostles, and the early Christians gathered together in prayer, waiting for the Holy Spirit to come. Charismatic prayer groups welcome you to join us in following their example and come together in prayer!
"While meeting with them, he [Jesus] enjoined them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for "the promise of the Father about which you have heard me speak; for John baptized with water, but in a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit. ... But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, throughout Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth." Then they returned to Jerusalem ... When they entered the city they went to the upper room where they were staying, Peter and John and James and Andrew, Philip and Thomas, Bartholomew and Matthew, James son of Alphaeus, Simon the Zealot, and Judas son of James. All these devoted themselves with one accord to prayer, together with some women, and Mary the mother of Jesus, and his brothers." - Acts 1:4-5,8,12
The Church continued to grow from this first group experience of Pentecost!
Prayer Groups
All are welcome to attend the charismatic prayer groups in the churches throughout the Arlington Diocese.
At a prayer group, people gather to praise God in song, intercede for prayer requests, use of the gifts of the Holy Spirit, encourage one another, and enjoy the company of old and new friends. A prayer group can be a beautiful experience like Pentecost in the Book of Acts.
The Renovaction Catolica Carismatica has more information on Spanish-speaking Catholic charismatic prayer groups.
